The Gutter Dance charity bowling event, presented by the Hal Smith Restaurant Group, turns sweet 16 this year. The event was created to support Camp ClapHans, a summer camp at the J.D. McCarty Center.
Money raised at the event benefits the camp, which is for children with special needs ages 8 to 18 and is an outreach program for the center.
Camp counselor positions are available for the 2019 summer sessions at Camp ClapHans.
Interviews are under way for counselors to work with children with disabilities at the camp, which is an outreach program of the J.D. McCarty Center.
Camp ClapHans features a 1-to-1 staff to camper ratio.Camp staff members are typically university students who are working toward a degree in allied health-care fields, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology; special and general education; outdoor recreation; nutrition and other related fields.

The second annual "Trunk or Treat" featured a "spooktacular" evening and drew about a thousand people from the community. The event featured vehicles from the Heartland Camaros club, classic cars and jeeps from community volunteers, the city of Norman parks and recreation department, Norman Fire and Police departments and the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.
The event also included the Flavor Train food truck and crafts from the Norman parks and recreation department.

Bowlers participating in Gutter Dance, a charity bowling tournament, raised $9,286 for Camp ClapHans’ operations.
The event took place May 17 and featured 19 teams from the metro area. The event is presented by The Hal Smith Restaurant Group and takes place at Sooner Bowling Center in Norman.
Gutter Dance is in its 15th year. The date for next year is May 16.
